About

Welcome to my practice!

I am Gabriela Lynch, an associate Marriage and Family Therapist. For the past two years, I have been providing compassionate and effective counseling services here in Orange County California, specializing in treatment for anxiety, depression, substance misuse, grief, and individuals, couples and relational issues. I am 100% immersed in the field after obtaining my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University, and training in Narrative Therapy from California Family Institute. This helps me to provide fresh insight and the best current perspective as a narrative therapist.

I believe that words are powerful and have very personal meaning to each unique person. This belief grounds me in my narrative therapeutic approach, which puts the power to create positive change in your hands. Many people who decide to look for a therapist have realized that old strategies, which used to be helpful, may not be serving them anymore. Using Narrative Therapy for retelling your story, externalizing a problem, and deconstructing an issue can help you to “Story Forward”.

My Story

As with many little girls, I wanted to be a dancer when I grew up. I began dancing when I was four years old and danced until high school. I have always had a very strong creative side: I was a makeup artist for 15 years and was quite skilled at that, and I also enjoy doing home décor. I like to fill my environment with sensory finesse surrounded by things like beautiful music, art, and aromatherapy to provide serenity and joy. I have dreams of living in Europe – especially Italy!

As a single mom to four wonderful children, with a teenage son still at home, I value precious time with loved ones. I go to Pilates to gain focus and have positive energy throughout the day. Connecting with people in and out of work is a form of self-care for me, and that helps keep me going through life’s ups and downs.

I admire my grandmother, and try to instill her qualities into my daily life: She was always kind to everyone, she never judged, always held herself with grace and dignity. She always made you feel welcome, valued, and special. She prioritized people over things.

Two mottos that help me manage the delicate dance of life:
Be kind; you never know the battles others are fighting.
This too shall pass!

Story Forward With Me

The next chapter is all about the courage it takes to pursue other passions. I took a risk in deciding to change the course of my life, and the new journey is better than I imagined! I am very passionate about counseling, which has allowed me to connect with people from all walks of life, without “judging a book by its cover”. To help you as the storyteller of your life, my mission is not to tell you how to think, but rather to give you questions to think upon. I approach everything with open-minded curiosity, using questions to create deeper reflection.

I believe that you are the expert on your life-only you know your life intimately. With that, I aim to empower my clients to discover their inner strengths, originality, beliefs, and values that have guided them through life’s challenges so far. I like to dive into the depths of each person’s story with a very down-to-earth approach, (where nothing is off the table!) to help foster new insights about their resourcefulness, helping them gain a clearer idea of how to move forward in a new and more productive way.
